Dixons Sixth Form Expansion Consultation

Posted on 18.06.2021

We have written to all parents, local admissions authorities and other interested parties to consult formally on the expansion of physical capacity at Dixons Sixth Form Academy.

The expansion will use the existing buildings on the current site of the Sixth Form at Douglas Mill off Manchester Road. The expansion will provide capacity for another 170 students, taking the PAN to a total of 1050. With several local school-based sixth forms already closed, this expansion will provide much needed additional places for Post 16 places.

Bradford is a growing city, with an increasing number of young people. Currently, demand at Post 16 exceeds space and Dixons Sixth Form receives around 3 applications for every place. This expansion will allow the Sixth Form to meet some of this need.

The intention is for this expansion to be in place by September 2022. Therefore, students in current Year 10 and below will benefit from this increase in capacity.

We would be very interested in any comments you might have on these proposals before consultation closes. We have extended the deadline by one week until Wednesday 28 July 2021. You can respond via an email to or in writing to the Trust at the address found here. In addition, a open public meeting was held at the Dixons Sixth Form Academy site on Monday 5 July - thanks to all who attended. A response from you would be very much appreciated.
