We recognise that some students may have medical conditions that require additional support during their time with us. Our aim is to ensure that every student feels safe, support and able to fully access their learning. We encourage students and parents/carers to share relevant information at the earliest opportunity so that we can plan appropriate support and ensure a smooth transition into D6A.
Support we offer:
We offer transition visits and individual appointments to help students become familiar with the College environment and discuss support needs.
We put reasonable adjustments in place to meet individual medical needs and remove barriers to learning.
Individual healthcare plans may be created in partnership with students, parents/carers and relevant professionals to ensure the appropriate support is in place.
We work closely with Progress Tutors and teaching staff to implement appropriate strategies within the classroom.
Exam access arrangements are provided where required, in line with individual needs.
We support students progressing to university with applications for Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA).
Where needed, we liaise with external agencies and medical professionals to ensure coordinated support.
Students are encouraged and supported to take part in wider College opportunities, including trips, enrichment and themed events.
